| This is the saddest entry I ever had to make.... I just found out my grandpa died of lung cancer. I knew he was sick, of course I did, but you know how you always hope against all hope. I also knew he was in a hospice, but then again, how can it ever sink in? I feel so devasted, and the worst part is I don't think I can go to the funeral. It is so horrible to be so far away from my family, and be the only one here. And on top of it, my 30th Birthday is coming up (Oct. 13th), and he is not alive for it.... How can I celebrate? How can I enjoy it and be happy? Makes me want to cry all the time.........and I wish my parents and my grandma were here...... PS to all those who wrote me e-mails: Please, be patient, because I cannot really concentrate on writing e-mails now.... Hope you read it and understand. | | |
| Dear all,
first of all, I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer, relaxing and enjoying your time with friends, family and the loved ones. As some of you know, I went to Poland and Greece this year. WOW! Greece is absolutely amazing. People are sweet and nice, ready to help you with whatever you may need. The beaches and the water simply great. The food, well, some of it is very tasty, and some of it not, but then, I am a picky eater, who does not enjoy sea food nor fish, so I guess it takes away from the experience. However, the most breathtaking thing Greece has to offer is its history and culture. I have always wanted to see the Parhenon, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Theater of Herodes Atticus, among others. Athens is simply amazing! I also got to see Thessaloniki, Meteora, Thermopylae, Valley of Tembi, Skiathos (island) and Nei Pori.
Here are some pictures from Greece.
Me in front of the Parthenon.
In front of St. Stephen's Monastery, Meteora.
My parents in Thessaloniki.
Now, Poland, as always, was amazing. I missed my parents, other family members and friends a lot. So, it was great to see them again and spend time together. I also got to visit some of the castles Warsaw has, interesting museums and an amazing ZOO in my city, Opole.
Now that I'm back, guess what I found out.... well.... I just picked up the AP scores for this year from my new school. My students ALL passed. They mostly got 5s (!) - 72%, 20% got 4s, and 8% got 3s. ISN'T IT AMAZING?
Well, I'm off to study a bit for an exam I have tomorrow. Wish me luck
Miss all of you very much.
| Thank you to all of you for visiting me at my new school. It is so nice to know that you still remember me and take the time to drive up there.... (I know it is not too close). It was great to see: Dorothy, Andrew, Phyllis, Jason, Yedda, Eunice, Alice, Bernice, Jessica and my biggest surprise, Sherry. Thank you also for leaving notes and comments.
I guess the biggest news is that my school decided to help me out w/ my green card. YEY! That will make my life in this country much easier.
Other than that, I'm driving myself crazy, (as always I must say), with AP exams. I am getting my class ready, and we are working hard. This is going to be the first time in the school's history that this exam will be administerd, and I truly hope all of my 25 kids pass it. Let's see how it goes.
I will write more some time later,
take care, and keep on leaving me some comments,
Srta. | | |
| So yet again it took me forever to actually write something and update this xanga. I have been so busy that I stopped even writing back to people's e-mails... I am taking 9 units at a university and teaching Spanish 4 and Spanish AP (without books). On top of that, I am the AP coordinator for my school, and have to help out some students after school with both Spanish and English... Well, what to do.
I finally managed to upload the pictures from Q-Cup and so, here they are.

Enjoy!
Let me know how all of you are doing.
